Aviation Medical Examiner (AME) is a certified medical professional who is authorized by aviation authorities to conduct medical examinations for pilots and air traffic controllers. Their primary responsibility is to ensure that aviation personnel meet the medical standards necessary to maintain safe flight operations. AMEs evaluate physical and mental conditions, perform laboratory tests, and review medical history to assess a person’s fitness to fly. They are also responsible for issuing medical certificates that grant permission for aviation duties. Given the critical role they play in aviation safety, AMEs possess specialized medical training and knowledge that enables them to identify and manage aviation-related health risks.
