High Reconnaissance Flight Definition

A High Reconnaissance Flight is a specified route of flight conducted at an altitude over 500 feet above ground level (AGL) that includes reconnaissance activities. This type of flight allows the pilot to gather information about the terrain, obstacles, and other relevant factors that could potentially impact the safety of the flight. The reconnaissance activities are limited to maneuvers that fall within the commercial pilot skill level, including standard rate climbs, turns, and descents, and avoiding maneuvering below 1.4 Vso. It does not involve any specialized equipment or maneuvers that require precise maneuvering. This type of flight is often used by pilots in military or search and rescue operations to gather necessary information about the area they are operating in.
