Definition of INS

Inertial Navigation System, or INS, is a technology that utilizes accelerometers and gyroscopes to calculate the position, velocity, and orientation of a moving object without the need for external references. This self-contained system can function independently and is commonly used in various applications such as aviation, marine navigation, and spacecraft guidance. INS provides continuous and accurate information which can be used to track changes in direction, altitude, and speed, and can also be integrated with other navigational systems to improve overall accuracy. While INS may be affected by errors and inaccuracies over time, it remains a reliable and crucial part of modern navigation.
