Long Range Navigation (LORAN)

LORAN is a type of electronic navigation system that works by measuring the difference in the time of reception of synchronized pulse signals from fixed transmitters to determine lines of position. LORAN-C specifically operates in the 100-110 kHz frequency band. This system is particularly useful for long range navigation, allowing ships and aircrafts to determine their location and course over vast distances. By using LORAN, pilots and navigators can maintain accuracy even in areas where GPS signals may be limited or unavailable.
