Military Training Route (MTR)

A Military Training Route, commonly abbreviated as MTR, refers to a designated airspace zone used for military training exercises at airspeeds greater than 250 knots indicated airspeed (KIAS). It is defined by specific vertical and lateral dimensions to promote safe and efficient military aviation training activities. MTRs are designed to prevent overlapping air traffic conflicts with civilian air travel and ensure that military pilots have adequate airspace to conduct their training exercises safely. The MTRs are usually marked on aviation charts with blue dashes and have specific entry and exit points. The use of MTRs may occasionally have an impact on civilian air traffic, but pilots are typically notified in advance to avoid any potential conflicts.
