Passenger Facility Charge (PFC)

Passenger Facility Charge (PFC) refers to an additional fee charged to passengers for the use of airport facilities such as terminals, runways, and other passenger facilities. This fee is added to the cost of an airline ticket and is collected by the airport authority. The PFC is typically used to fund capital improvements, maintenance, and construction of new airport facilities.

The PFC is assessed by the government or airport operator and is meant to offset the costs of maintaining and improving the airports. The amount of the PFC varies depending on the airport and the cost of the facility. However, it is set by the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) and its maximum amount is currently capped at $4.50 per departure.

In summary, the Passenger Facility Charge (PFC) is an additional fee collected from passengers to finance the development, construction, and maintenance of airport facilities.
