Precision Reconnaissance (including Fire Recon)

Precision Reconnaissance (including Fire Recon) is a specialized type of aerial reconnaissance carried out at altitudes above 500′ AGL that involves the use of sophisticated equipment and techniques. This type of reconnaissance encompasses a range of specific tasks that require special consideration and expertise to execute successfully. Transect type operations, for example, involve the systematic coverage of specified regions in quick succession to gather precise data on an area. Other tasks may involve the identification of potential fire hotspots and the provision of real-time mapping and data analysis to support firefighting efforts. Due to the highly specialized nature of this activity, it is not normally conducted in the commercial sector and requires the use of specialized equipment and skilled personnel with extensive training to execute safely and effectively.
