Remote communications outlet (RCO)

Remote Communications Outlet (RCO) – An automated communication facility operated remotely by air traffic control personnel that provides radio communication services to pilots. RCOs are usually located near non-towered airports or in remote areas where traditional communication methods may not be effective. These facilities are unmanned but are controlled and monitored by trained personnel who receive and transmit flight information and provide essential weather updates to pilots. RCOs are essential in providing safe, efficient, and reliable communication services to pilots, especially in areas with limited communication infrastructure.
