Definition of Tender:

Tender, also known as a tender boat or simply a tender, refers to a small vessel typically used to ferry passengers from an anchored cruise ship to the pier at a port of call. Due to the size of some ships, certain destinations may not have adequate port facilities to accommodate them. In such cases, the ships anchor offshore and tender their passengers to the shore. The tender typically consists of a small motorized boat that can accommodate a limited number of passengers, and it is responsible for shuttling guests back and forth between the ship and the shore. Depending on the location and circumstances, tenders may also be used for transporting supplies, equipment, or crew members. The tendering process is an essential aspect of cruise ship operations, ensuring that passengers can safely and efficiently access the different ports of call on their itinerary.
