User-defined waypoints

« Back to Glossary Index

User-defined waypoints: digitally marked locations and related information entered by the user on a GPS device, such as geographic coordinates, names, symbols, and notes. These waypoints differ from pre-set and factory-programmed ones, and can be created and modified according to the individual needs and preferences of the user. They offer a flexible and personalized way to navigate, explore, and record points of interest, landmarks, trails, routes, and destinations in the wilderness, on the road, or in the water. User-defined waypoints can be used for various purposes, such as hunting, fishing, hiking, boating, cycling, geocaching, mapping, surveying, and emergency response. They can be backed up, shared, and synchronized with other devices and software, and are a valuable resource for outdoor enthusiasts, professionals, researchers, and adventurers.
