Utility Category Certification

The Utility Category Certification is a designation by the Federal Aviation Agency, which ensures that an airplane’s structure is capable of enduring positive load factors of 4.4 and negative load factors of 1.76. This certification guarantees that the airplane is designed and manufactured to withstand certain flight stresses and limits. In order to maintain this certification, pilots must adhere to specific maneuvers and flight restrictions that prevent the airplane from being subjected to higher loads. This certification enables pilots to safely perform limited aerobatic maneuvers in the airplane without causing structural damage or compromising safety.
