Definition of Velocity

Velocity can be defined as the speed and direction of movement of a body. In other words, it refers to how quickly an object moves in a particular direction. It is a vector quantity that requires both magnitude and direction to be fully described. Velocity is often confused with speed, but these two terms have different meanings. While speed is the distance traveled per unit of time, velocity takes into account the object’s direction of motion. Velocity is measured in meters per second (m/s) or feet per second (ft/s). The concept of velocity is essential in physics, engineering, and mathematics, and it plays a significant role in understanding motion and mechanics.
