Very High Frequency Omnidirectional Range (VOR)

VOR is a ground-based electronic navigation aid that emits very high frequency signals in a 360-degree azimuth orientation from magnetic north. This system is used as the foundation for navigation within the National Airspace System. VOR periodically identifies itself using Morse Code and may also include a voice identification feature. These voice features can be utilized by Air Traffic Control (ATC) or Flight Service Station (FSS) to transmit vital instructions and information to pilots throughout their flight. Overall, VOR navigation aids are critical tools that help pilots to maintain their course and ensure safe travel within the aviation industry.
