Definition of FIT
FIT, which now stands for Flexible Independent Travel, is a type of travel package that is customized by a travel agent based on the specific needs and preferences of the traveler. Essentially, it involves the creation of a unique travel itinerary that includes separate components such as car rentals, hotel stays, and airfare, all tailored to the traveler’s preferences. FIT travel may also include city tours, theater tickets, and other independent options, and may even involve custom mapping and routing to ensure that the client’s goals are achieved. While the term originally referred to foreign independent tour, it is now used more broadly to describe any travel package that is not pre-packaged but instead designed to meet the unique needs of the traveler.
