Accelerate-go distance

« Back to Glossary Index

Accelerate-go distance refers to the total amount of runway required for an aircraft to accelerate to V1 with all engines operating at takeoff power, experience an engine failure at V1, and be able to safely continue the takeoff using the remaining engine(s). This distance includes the necessary climb to reach 35 feet altitude within which V2 speed must be achieved. It is an important performance measurement that ensures the safety of aircraft during takeoff by accounting for potential engine failures and allowing pilots to make informed decisions during critical phases of flight.
