“Aircraft”
An aircraft is a vehicle or device used for flight through the air, which includes both airplanes and helicopters. With advancing technology, the definition of aircraft has widened to include machines capable of sustained flight such as gliders and drones. Essentially, an aircraft flies through the air and derives support in the atmosphere from the reaction of the air against its surfaces. The mechanism of flight in an aircraft involves the generation of lift due to the shape and movement of the wings or rotors. It also includes propulsion to move forward and control systems to steer. In modern times, aircraft play a vital role in transportation, commerce and defense. They have revolutionized the way people and goods travel and have made the world a smaller place. Today, aircraft come in various shapes, sizes and abilities, each with its unique capabilities that cater to different missions.
