Accelerate-stop Distance Definition

Accelerate-stop distance is the minimum distance required for an aircraft to accelerate from a stationary position to the predetermined speed for takeoff (V1) with all engines at takeoff power, experience engine failure at V1, and safely abort takeoff by bringing the airplane to a stop using braking action only. This distance is calculated by considering various factors such as aircraft weight, runway conditions, and available stopping distance. Thrust reversing is not considered while calculating this distance. It is a critical factor that helps aircraft operators and pilots to ensure the safety of passengers and crew members during takeoff.
