What is AVGAS?

AVGAS is short for aviation gasoline – a specialized type of fuel formulated for use in aircraft piston engines. The fuel is carefully manufactured to meet strict quality and performance standards, ensuring safe and reliable operation of the aircraft.

The most commonly used type of AVGAS in General Aviation today is 100 octane, low lead (100LL) which is easily identifiable by its blue color. The low lead content in this fuel makes it safer for the environment and reduces the risk of lead-related engine damage.

AVGAS is a critical component of safe flight operations, as it provides the power needed for takeoff, climb, and cruise. Precisely measuring and managing fuel levels is also of critical importance in aircraft to ensure that flights can be completed safely and efficiently. Overall, AVGAS plays an integral role in aviation and the safe operation of aircraft.
