Aviation Hazard

An aviation hazard refers to any event, condition, or circumstance that is inherent to aviation operations and places the Department at risk of personnel injury, material damage, or mission degradation.

Aviation hazards can arise from a wide range of sources, including weather conditions, technical malfunctions, human error, or communication breakdowns. They can occur before, during, or after flight operations and pose a potential threat to the safety of personnel, equipment, and mission objectives.

To minimize aviation hazards, the Department must implement a comprehensive risk management approach that identifies and assesses potential hazards, establishes mitigation strategies, and monitors performance to ensure ongoing safety and effectiveness. This requires a collaborative effort among all stakeholders, including pilots, ground crew, maintenance personnel, and air traffic control authorities.

By taking proactive measures to address aviation hazards, the Department can promote a culture of safety and excellence that enhances the efficiency and effectiveness of aviation operations.
