The term “Captain” typically refers to the pilot-in-command of an aircraft. As the highest ranking member of the flight crew, the Captain is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the aircraft from takeoff to landing.

In addition to flying the plane, the Captain also oversees the actions of the co-pilot, flight engineer (if applicable), and any other crew members on board. They must be skilled in decision-making, communication, and problem-solving in order to manage any unexpected situations that may arise during the flight.

To become a Captain, one must undergo extensive training, including flight school, and accumulate a certain number of flight hours to obtain the necessary certifications and licenses. The Captain is typically identified by the four stripes on their shoulder.
