The term “Captain” typically refers to the pilot-in-command of an aircraft. As the highest ranking member of the flight crew, the Captain is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the aircraft from takeoff to landing.
In addition to flying the plane, the Captain also oversees the actions of the co-pilot, flight engineer (if applicable), and any other crew members on board.
