Climb

Definition of “Climb”:

A climb is a flight maneuver that causes an increase in the altitude of an aircraft. This period of flight is typically initiated soon after takeoff and may involve ascending to a specific altitude, leveling off, and then ascending further, depending on the requirements of the flight plan. Commercial airliners may also perform additional climbs enroute, known as “Step climbs,” which involve increasing altitude in stages during a long-haul flight to conserve fuel and optimize performance. Climb performance is crucial for aircraft during takeoff and in-flight as it affects factors such as speed, fuel efficiency, and safety.
