Definition of Controlled Airspace

Controlled airspace refers to a predetermined airspace, divided into different classes (Class A, B, C, D, and E) within which Air Traffic Control (ATC) services are provided to both Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) and Visual Flight Rules (VFR) aircrafts.

In such airspace, ATC controllers are responsible for directing and guiding aircrafts through their flight path. This includes plotting the most efficient and safest route for each airplane, monitoring the traffic flow, and providing pilots with necessary information for navigating the airspace.

All airplanes flying within controlled airspace must receive clearance from ATC and follow national regulations set by the aviation authority. Pilots are required to hold specific qualifications and must ensure that their aircraft meets all the necessary requirements to enter controlled airspace.

In summary, controlled airspace is essential for maintaining the safety and efficiency of air traffic, providing pilots and controllers with the necessary tools to navigate through complex airspace systems.
