DP (Departure Procedure)

A DP, or departure procedure, is a set of pre-planned actions for a pilot to follow when departing from an airport. These procedures include the routes and altitudes to be taken during the climb, as well as any necessary communication with air traffic control. DPs are designed to ensure the safe and efficient departure of aircraft, and reduce the risk of collisions with other aircraft or obstacles. They are an important part of flight planning, and must be adhered to by pilots unless instructed otherwise by ATC.
