Electronic Ticket

An electronic ticket or e-ticket is a digital record of an airline reservation that travelers can use to check-in and board their flights without the need for a physical paper ticket. The e-ticket system eliminates the need for paper tickets, making air travel much more efficient and convenient.

E-tickets are commonly referred to as paperless tickets, as they do not require a physical ticket. Instead, the travelers simply present their photo ID at the airport, which is linked to their electronic ticket. The airline then verifies the reservation electronically and issues a boarding pass.

E-tickets provide numerous benefits over traditional paper tickets. They cannot be lost or stolen, as they are saved electronically. This makes them a safer option for travelers. Additionally, e-tickets are more environmentally friendly, as they eliminate the need for paper.

One drawback of e-tickets is that they are carrier-specific. Only the airline that issued the e-ticket can honor it. Therefore, if a flight is cancelled and the traveler needs to fly with a different carrier, the original carrier must print out a hard copy ticket. This creates paperwork problems for the airline and inconvenience for the traveler.

Overall, e-tickets are a convenient and efficient way to manage airline reservations, and their use is likely to continue to grow in the future.
