Flight Data Recorder (FDR)

The Flight Data Recorder (FDR) is a device installed in an aircraft that records numerous flight parameters, such as altitude, airspeed, heading, and vertical acceleration on a continuous basis throughout the entire flight. The FDR is designed to survive crashes and other serious incidents, and its data is used as a forensic tool in the investigation of aviation accidents. According to International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) regulations, the FDR must be built to withstand extreme conditions, such as impact forces of 3,400 G and temperatures of up to 2,000°F for at least 30 minutes. The data from the FDR is crucial for determining the cause of an aircraft accident, improving aviation safety, and preventing future incidents.
