Idle cutoff

The Idle cutoff is the position of the fuel mixture control in a fuel metering system of a reciprocating engine that is responsible for shutting off all fuel to the cylinders. This can occur when the engine is idling or when it needs to be shut down. Its primary function is to prevent the engine from continuing to run when there is no need for fuel, such as during maintenance or when the aircraft is parked. It is an essential safety feature that helps to prevent accidents and damage to the engine.
