Inclinometer

Definition of Inclinometer:

An inclinometer is a tool used to measure the tilt or slope of an object relative to the horizontal plane. It is commonly used in a variety of applications, including navigation, surveying, construction, and aviation. In aviation, an inclinometer is used to determine the aircraft’s attitude in relation to the horizon, and is often mounted to show rotation about the longitudinal axis. It typically consists of a curved glass tube filled with a clear damping fluid and a freely-moving ball or weight, which responds to changes in gravitational force and indicates the object’s tilt. The inclinometer may also be used as a level or to show the relationship between gravity and centrifugal force in a turn, as in turn indicators.
