Definition of Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC)

Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC) refer to a set of weather conditions in which pilots are unable to operate aircraft using visual references. This situation arises when the weather conditions such as low visibility, clouds at low altitude, and precipitation, make it challenging for pilots to navigate and land the plane safely. In IMC, the pilot must rely on onboard instruments such as altimeters, gyroscopes, and compasses to maintain orientation and avoid obstacles. These conditions pose a potential threat to flight safety, and pilots must be trained and certified to fly in IMC to ensure a smooth and secure flight. IMC is a critical aspect of aviation safety and requires careful monitoring, reporting, and management to prevent accidents.
