Definition of Integrated Standby Flight Display (IFSD)

The IFSD, also known as the standby instrument, is a crucial component of modern aircraft. It is an electronic flight instrument that serves as a backup for primary instruments, including the altimeter, airspeed, and attitude indicators, in case of failure or malfunction. The IFSD provides essential information to the pilot, such as altitude, airspeed, and flight attitude. It is usually located in the center of the cockpit and can be easily accessed by the pilot. The IFSD is designed to be highly reliable, accurate, and easy to read, even in low light conditions. In addition, it is equipped with advanced features such as a digital compass, GPS, and weather radar, which provide additional situational awareness to the pilot. The IFSD is a critical component of flight safety, as it enables the pilot to maintain situational awareness and control of the aircraft in case of primary instrument failure.
