Intercooler

An intercooler is a mechanical device that is used to cool and compress the air that is supplied to the engine of a motor vehicle or any other kind of machine that is powered by combustion. The purpose of the intercooler is to lower the temperature of the compressed air right before it reaches the fuel metering device. This colder air has a higher density, which in turn increases the engine’s power output. The intercooler is an important component of forced induction systems, such as those used in turbocharged and supercharged engines. By reducing the temperature of the compressed air, the intercooler allows for an increased amount of air and fuel to be burned in the combustion process, which results in a higher engine output. Intercoolers can be found on a variety of vehicles and machines, including cars, trucks, boats, and even aircraft.
