Jet route

« Back to Glossary Index

Jet Route: A route designated for high-altitude flight operations around the world, typically at altitudes from 18,000 feet MSL up to and including FL 450 (45,000 feet). Jet routes are used by commercial airlines and private jets to efficiently navigate through the airspace and avoid conflicting with other aircraft. These routes are clearly defined by a series of waypoints and navigational aids and are highly regulated to ensure safety and efficiency. They provide a clear path for pilots to follow, reducing the risk of mid-air collisions and facilitating air traffic control.
