Military Aircraft refers to any aircraft that is maintained and operated by either an active or reserve component of the Department of Defense (DOD) or any active or reserve component of the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG). The U.S. Government Manual describes the USCG as a branch of the U.S. Armed Forces that falls under the jurisdiction of the Department of Homeland Security during peacetime and the Department of the Navy during wartime. The USCG is responsible for maritime law enforcement, maritime safety, and search and rescue operations. Military aircraft operated by the USCG are primarily used for maritime patrol and surveillance, interdiction of drug smuggling, and interagency support.

In summary, military aircraft are essential tools for any nation’s defense and security. They are designed and operated with specialized capabilities and technologies to carry out a wide range of missions in various environments and situations.
