Military Operations Area (MOA)
A Military Operations Area (MOA) is designated airspace that is established for the purpose of conducting efficient and safe military training activities while also separating them from Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) traffic. The MOA defines the limits of the airspace and provides pilots with the necessary information to avoid hazardous situations during training exercises. The airspace may be activated within certain time frames and may have restrictions for non-participating aircraft. The MOA allows military pilots to train realistically and effectively while maintaining the safety of the national airspace system.
