Operating limitations

« Back to Glossary Index

Operating Limitations: Guidelines set by the aircraft manufacturer that define permissible limits related to an aircraft’s speed, weight, pressure, and passenger and crew size. These restrictions are in place to ensure the safety of the aircraft and those on-board. The restrictions are specific to each aircraft type and are designed to prevent any hazards and breakdowns that may occur if the limitations are not followed. These limitations are important for pilots to adhere to, as they serve as a crucial reference while operating the aircraft. The operating limitations may include maximum and minimum values for powerplant temperatures and pressures, crew size, speed limits, and weight restrictions, among other things. Compliance with the operating limitations is mandatory and is covered by regulatory policies. The limitations may be periodically revised or updated based on any new standards or requirements.
