Operational Control, Aircraft Under the Operational Control of DOI

Operational Control, Aircraft Under the Operational Control of DOI, refers to the state wherein a Department of the Interior (DOI) entity has the jurisdiction to initiate, conduct, or terminate a flight. In simpler terms, it is a condition where the DOI exercises overall governance and responsibility for an aircraft’s flight operation. This condition remains in effect throughout the entirety of the flight, from pre-flight checks to post-flight tasks. It ensures the safety, security, and efficiency of the flight, including all aspects of flight planning, communication, and coordination. The responsibility for the operational control may lie with the Director or any other authorized official of the DOI, as set forth in applicable laws and regulations.
