Pilot in Command Definition
The pilot in command (PIC) is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of an aircraft from the moment it leaves the ground until it lands at its destination. The PIC is ultimately in charge of the aircraft and everything that happens on board, including the safety and security of the passengers and crew.
To become a PIC, a pilot must meet strict qualifications and requirements, including completing a specific amount of flight experience and training. The PIC must also possess excellent communication and decision-making skills to effectively manage the cockpit and any potential emergencies that may arise.
During the flight, the PIC is responsible for making critical decisions and delegating tasks to the other crew members. They must constantly monitor weather conditions and air traffic, while ensuring that the flight is on schedule and within the limits of the aircraft’s capabilities.
In addition, the PIC acts as the final authority in all matters related to the flight, including any deviations from the original flight plan and any changes to the aircraft’s course or speed.
