Prime Meridian is an imaginary north-south line passing through the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, England that is set as the starting point for measuring longitude. It’s recognized as the longitude of 0 degrees by international agreement. The Prime Meridian divides the Earth into Eastern and Western Hemispheres and establishes the standard reference point for all time zones on Earth. It plays a crucial role in navigation because it aids in determining a ship or aircraft’s position in relation to the other side of the globe. The Prime Meridian concept continues to have significant importance in the fields of astronomy, geography, and cartography.
