Pulsating Visual Approach Slope Indicator (P-VASI)

A Pulsating Visual Approach Slope Indicator (P-VASI) is a type of airport lighting equipment designed to assist pilots in safely executing landing maneuvers. The P-VASI system provides a visual glide slope by way of a single point, dual-color light source. A steady white light indicates the aircraft is “on path” while a steady red light indicates the aircraft is slightly low. If the aircraft diverges from the glide path, the respective lights pulsate. The pulsing frequency increases as the divergence becomes greater. This lighting system is highly effective in aiding pilots to safely land their aircraft in all weather conditions.
