Definition of Required Navigation Performance (RNP)
Required Navigation Performance (RNP) refers to a specific level of accuracy required for aircraft operation, which is defined by a predetermined lateral area of confined airspace. To be RNP-certified, an aircraft must meet the required precision specifications and operate within the defined airspace without deviating from the pre-defined trajectory. Advanced avionics systems are used to achieve the required positional accuracy, allowing for more efficient and precise navigation, especially in challenging terrain and weather conditions.
