Slaved Compass Definition

The Slaved Compass is a navigational system that continuously corrects or adjusts the heading gyro based on the readings obtained from a remotely placed magnetic direction sensing device. Typically, the device used is a flux valve or flux gate compass. With this system in place, the direction readings of the heading gyro can be brought in sync with the magnetic direction sensing device automatically. As a result, the pilot can accurately determine the aircraft’s orientation and make necessary adjustments to the flight path accordingly. The Slaved Compass is an essential tool for modern aviation that ensures precision in navigation and can help to reduce the risk of errors or accidents caused by incorrect positioning.
