Starboard: The Right Side of a Ship or Aircraft

Starboard refers to the right-hand side of a ship or aircraft when facing forward. In the case of an aircraft, the starboard wing will have a green light on its underside to aid in visibility and navigation at night. This terminology is commonly used in maritime and aviation industries to indicate directions and locations within the vessel or aircraft. The use of the term “starboard” dates back to the 14th century and is believed to have roots in old Norse or Old English languages. Understanding the meaning of starboard is essential for safe navigation in both water and air travel.
