Terminal radar service areas (TRSA)

« Back to Glossary Index

Terminal Radar Service Areas (TRSAs) are designated airspace areas where pilots can receive additional radar services. The primary objective of TRSAs is to provide separation between all IFR operations and participating VFR aircraft. Pilots who are participating in TRSAs can receive radar traffic advisories, vectors around weather or conflicting traffic, and separation services from other IFR traffic. TRSAs are not considered control towers, but rather provide additional support to pilots. Their purpose is to enhance safety and improve communication between pilots and air traffic control.
