Truss Fuselage Design

A truss fuselage design is a structural configuration made up of supporting members that resist deformation by applied loads. This type of design is commonly used in the construction of aircraft fuselages, with the trusses being constructed of steel or aluminum tubing. Welding together the tubing into a series of triangular shapes, called trusses, achieves strength and rigidity. This design allows for a lightweight and efficient structure that is able to withstand the stresses of flight and was first introduced in the early 1900s. Today, truss fuselage designs are still commonly used in smaller aircraft and experimental aircraft projects, as well as some military aircraft.
