Vectoring

Vectoring is a navigational technique used in aviation that involves assigning headings to an aircraft in order to guide it to a specific destination. This technique is particularly useful for air traffic controllers who need to manage the movement of multiple aircraft within a defined airspace.

Vectoring allows controllers to guide aircraft around areas of restricted airspace, bad weather, or other obstacles that may be blocking the flight path of the aircraft. By assigning specific headings to each aircraft, controllers can ensure that all planes are flying on safe and efficient routes.

Vectoring can also be used to help aircraft navigate through busy areas of airspace, such as airport traffic patterns or congested air routes. In these instances, controllers may assign headings or altitudes to aircraft to keep them separated from other planes and to maintain proper spacing between aircraft.

Overall, vectoring is an essential tool for air traffic control, allowing controllers to safely guide aircraft through busy and potentially hazardous airspace, while ensuring the efficient movement of planes throughout the aviation system.
