Victor airways

« Back to Glossary Index

Victor Airways: A network of airways that are defined by a centerline traced between two VOR or VORTAC navigation aids or intersections, which can also include several such navigation aids or intersections. These airways are specifically designed to establish well-known routes for aircraft when they are navigating in between terminal areas. The Victor airways are labeled with a “V” followed by a number, indicating the degree of magnetic heading of the centerline. This system of Victor airways is an essential component in the US national airspace system, enabling pilots to safely navigate and communicate their positions with air traffic control authorities.
