Definition of “VS0

VS0” refers to the minimum steady flight speed in the landing configuration, also known as the stalling speed. This is typically the power-off stall speed at the maximum landing weight with gear and flaps down in small airplanes. It is denoted by the lower limit of the white arc on the airspeed indicator. Knowing VS0 is important for pilots to safely approach and land an airplane, as it represents the threshold speed where a stall or loss of lift can occur.
