Wingspan

Wingspan refers to the maximum distance between the tips of a bird’s or airplane’s wings when fully extended. This distance is an important factor in determining an aircraft’s lift capability and overall stability. The longer the wingspan, the greater the potential for lift and the better the stability during flight. In the case of birds, the wingspan can vary greatly depending on the species and can range from a few inches to several feet. For airplanes, the wingspan plays a crucial role in determining the aircraft’s maneuverability and fuel efficiency, with longer wingspan resulting in better fuel economy but reduced maneuverability. Overall, the wingspan is an important attribute that defines the function and capabilities of an aircraft or bird in flight.
