Air Taxi Operator Definition

An Air Taxi Operator is a company that provides air transportation services using aircraft designed to carry no more than 60 passengers or a cargo payload of 18,000 lbs, under the regulations set by FAR Part 135. These companies offer scheduled or charter cargo and mail transport as well as on-demand or limited scheduled passenger transport. Air Taxi Operators are typically smaller than commercial airlines and offer more flexible transportation options to their clients, allowing them to adjust to specific needs and destinations. These services are commonly used for short-haul flights and can be an efficient way to transport small groups of people or freight to remote or hard-to-reach locations.
