Annual Inspection of Aircraft

An annual inspection is a comprehensive and meticulous inspection of an aircraft’s airframe and engine. The purpose of this inspection is to ensure that the aircraft is in a safe and airworthy condition. It is mandated by the Code of Federal Regulations and must be carried out every 12 calendar months on all certificated aircraft.

The inspection includes a thorough check of all the aircraft’s components, systems and equipment, including its structural integrity, electrical and hydraulic systems, avionics and instruments, and the condition of its engine and propeller. This inspection is carried out by a certified Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) mechanic who holds an Inspection Authorization.

During the inspection, the A&P mechanic will follow a detailed checklist to ensure that every item is thoroughly inspected, tested and certified. Any deficiencies or discrepancies must be corrected before the aircraft is deemed airworthy and released for flight.

The annual inspection is a critical part of maintaining the safety and continuing airworthiness of an aircraft. It helps to detect and address any mechanical or structural issues that could compromise the safety of the aircraft and its occupants. With proper maintenance and regular inspections, an aircraft can maintain its airworthiness and serve its purpose safely and efficiently.
