Checked Luggage

Checked luggage refers to the large pieces of baggage that passengers entrust to an airline for transportation to their destination that they do not have access to during the flight. When checking in, passengers hand over their checked luggage to airline counter staff, usually before going through security and customs.

These items are stored in the cargo hold of the aircraft during the flight and are not accessible during the duration of the flight. Passengers are only reunited with their checked baggage upon arrival at their destination where the baggage is collected from the luggage carousel in the airport terminal.

Checked luggage is subject to additional screening and must meet certain size and weight requirements established by airlines to ensure safe handling and efficient transport. It is also subject to various rules and regulations governing the types of items that are allowed or prohibited in checked baggage, including liquids, batteries, and hazardous materials.

Overall, checked luggage is an essential part of air travel and enables passengers to transport their belongings safely and conveniently from one destination to the other.
